Answers to the Frequently Asked Questions About Fibrex®

At Renewal by Andersen® of San Francisco, we take pride in offering replacement windows made of our patented Fibrex® material, an innovative composite known for its combination of strength and low-maintenance qualities. Read on as we answer the frequently asked questions about it.

What Is Fibrex®?

Fibrex is a material developed by the Andersen® Corporation, Renewal by Andersen’s parent company. It is composed of reclaimed wood fibers by weight and proprietary thermoplastic polymer – two materials that give Fibrex the same toughness as natural wood and the low-maintenance features of vinyl.

What Are Its Advantages?

Together with our High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass, Fibrex enhances the insulating properties of our replacement windows, further increasing the home’s energy efficiency upon installation. The material itself is durable enough that the windows require less maintenance, which helps you cut back on expenses. That same quality is why we produce window units with narrower frames and sashes, resulting in larger glass panes for better viewing and daylighting.

Is It Available for All Windows?

The composition of the Fibrex material allows it to be made into all types of windows, including double-hung and casement windows, that preserve the architectural look of your home. Unlike fiberglass that only allows for straight lines, Fibrex can be made into any kind of window shape, including curved ones. It also comes in different colors that complement any home style, from traditional to modern.

Does It Come With Warranties?

Yes, we back our frames with industry-leading warranties. The Fibrex material components of our replacement window units, including the frame, sash and exterior grilles, are warranted not to flake, rust, blister, peel, crack, pit or corrode, and be free from defects in manufacturing, materials and workmanship for a period of 20 years from the original installation date.

At Renewal by Andersen of San Francisco, we can custom-make your replacement windows according to your exact specifications and needs while contributing to a healthier environment. Our Fibrex frames and high-performance glass help lower heating and cooling costs, block harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays and increase overall indoor comfort.
